Strange Fate

Strange Fate (Not Yet Released)

Sixteen-year-old Sarah Strange finds life a mass of contradictions. She’s an ordinary-looking girl, and yet two of the most popular guys at school form her circle of friends. Shapeshifter Kierlan Drache and Witch Mal Harman, who are as unlike as any two people can be. That ought to make her happy, but recently she’s been having romantic feelings about each of them—and has seen two silver cords: one reaching from her to Kierlan, and one from her to Mal. What’s going on? In addition, every night she dreams of a future where dragons and vampires rule the world, and of a brave child called Crispy. For a girl who hasn’t even heard of the Night World yet, Sarah has a lot to handle! Even worse, the Apocalypse has finally come—and even the Wild Powers see only one way to stop it. And we can’t forget about the human Beauty, Brionway. This is an epic volume, which stars all the most beloved Night Worlders from the other books. Be prepared, though, because seven go on a mission to save the world . . . and only two come back.

Though the release date for this book has been pushed back every year since 1999, L. J. Smith remains dedicated to finishing the series for 2010 (current release date is set for April 06, 2010). She has written a delay of the apocalypse into Strange Fate and plans to tie off all loose ends in this last edition to the Night World series.

6th of April 2010. EIGHT MORE MONTHS?!

I shalt wait patiently, Lisa Jane. But don’t you dare delay anymore. I’ll sent Tristane after you.

Blair out.

Invaded

Imagine our Earth being invaded by aliens.

Not so hard, isn’t it? Well, try this instead:

Imagine our Earth being invaded by soul aliens.

Don’t go “WTF?” on me! I’m a little too lazy for story summarizations, so read it for yourself.

200px-The_Host

There you go. Read. It.

And don’t go “OH EM GEE! YOU’VE READ THE HOST?” on me, either. I have. End of story.

P/S. If I had a human stuck in my mind, or a soul taking over my body, her name would be Blair. Don’t ask.

Disaster of A Lifetime

Okay, maybe not a lifetime, but definitely a disaster.

What am I talking about? Well, it’s the fact that I joined a 2 days 1 night camp at SJKC Sin Min last week, and the only thing I got was a pair of sore feet. And full of mosquito bites.

Campers, if you happen to read this, I am not afraid to admit that, well, the camp sucked. No offense, but I could’ve spent my time watching Supernatural or chatting with Chrisseh on MSN, rather than adding on a few blood bites to my current collection. And the whole programme was a big mess! I hardly got any sleep -3 hours tops- and the food was, face it, ew.

Soya and Dolphin, I cannot conceal my frustration and vexation towards you two for, well, abandoning me and running off to find your ‘darlings’. Hello, you guys were the one to persuade me to join the camp and now you guys are playing all flirty-flirty with your crushes and leaving me alone like a dumb doll waiting for a death sentence. Well, congrats to you guys for winning your eternal bliss, so it’s buh-bye for me.

And well, I got a gift. A bloody gift, as I may say. It was a freaking cup. Like I don’t have enough cups to survive.

Once again, sorry for any offenses. Backstab me if you want, like I care, but who wouldn’t be mad if they wasted 10 hours of their life on a horrible, messed-up camp?

Night World

The Night World isn’t a place. It’s all around us. The creatures of Night World are beautiful and deadly and irresistible to humans. Your best friend could be one – so could your crush.

The laws of the Night World are very clear: humans must never learn that Night World exists. And members of the Night World must never fall in love with a human. Violate the laws and the consequences are terrifying.

These are the stories about what happens when the rules get broken.

Soulmates…do they exist? These people who were destined for each other, and can never be separated. Even a single touch sends electricity through their veins; a single look combines their minds; a single kiss breaks down every barriers and only love is present.

I envy the Night People. I really do. With love like this, nothing is impossible. With love like this, wars are no more. With love like this, anybody and everybody can be blissful forever.

*snaps back to normal self*

Anyways, I just finished all three books yesterday -in the middle of an exam, I know- and I couldn’t quite put it down after that. What shocked me even more was that the stories were written before the millenium and is only republished right now. I was only one when LJ Smith wrote the first story. *shudders*

Anyway, the main reason I like about Night World is…well, the soulmate thingy. My favourite stories were The Chosen, Soulmate and Huntress. The other thing is, I love to think up actors and actresses to portray the book characters, and the results often send me screaming everytime I think about the character. (Hint:  Look at the bottom.)

Here are some fanarts I made:

And now, for some fanfic/crazy imagination time.

Because I am craving for Strange Fate, the final conclusion to the series, where the fourth Wild Power is found. But if I don’t find out about  the last Wild Power soon enough, fear no more, because I will be the fourth Wild Power.

*blink*

Blair Virginia

Blair Devon Virginia
(portrayed by Hanna Beth)

Blair was born into this world a cherubic baby with a sweet face and a contagious smile. The only problem was, nobody knew where she was from. Blair was found on the doorstep of a childless couple somwhere in Aylesbury, UK without a note or letter to indicate her background. Nevertheless she was brought up blissfully by the Virginia couple.

Blair was named after Mrs Virginia’s grandmother, Helena Blair Mead. However, at the age of one, Blair didn’t seem to be able to respond to her name, and so Mr and Mrs Virginia gave her a nickname, Ginni.

Blair lived an average childhood with a wide circle of friends and satisfying grades. Despite her facade as the perfect princess, Blair desired to know who her real parents are. She tried all means of sources, Internet and even museums, but it was as if she fell from the sky, unscathed and unknown to the world.

Blair started to use her real name during high school, the time when her whole life began to change.  A nameless stranger turned up on her doorstep just before prom, demanding that she was a lost Harman baby, and also a Wild Power, crucial to saving the whole world before the millenium. Of course, Blair was shocked beyond words, and denied everything he said, until the guy -Tristane Drache, who happens to be a shapeshifter- meets grave danger and only then did her blue fire awakened. And of course, Tristane was Blair’s soulmate.

Tristane brings Blair back to Circle Daybreak, and found out unexpectedly that she was half vampire, half witch. Which makes her part Redfern and part Harman, and she was the only hope to unite the witches and the vampires to bring peace and harmony to the human world and Night World.

(Of course, if Chace Crawford was still available, I would put him as Tristane, but I love Thierry waaaay too much to do that, so I opted for Kevin Zegers.)

Tristane Rhydian Drache

And so the world is saved, now ruled by humans, and the Night People are united, still living in shadows of the human world, but in harmony.

Last but not least, this one’s for everyone. ^^

Natasha Bedingfield-Soulmate

Incompatible, it don’t matter though
‘cos someone’s bound to hear my cry
Speak out if you do
You’re not easy to find

Is it possible Mr. Loveable
Is already in my life?
Right in front of me
Or maybe you’re in disguise

Who doesn’t long for someone to hold
Who knows how to love you without being told
Somebody tell me why I’m on my own
If there’s a soulmate for everyone

Here we are again, circles never end
How do I find the perfect fit
There’s enough for everyone
But I’m still waiting in line

Who doesn’t long for someone to hold
Who knows how to love you without being told
Somebody tell me why I’m on my own
If there’s a soulmate for everyone

If there’s a soulmate for everyone

Most relationships seem so transitory
They’re all good but not the permanent one

Who doesn’t long for someone to hold
Who knows how to love you without being told
Somebody tell me why I’m on my own
If there’s a soulmate for everyone

Who doesn’t long for someone to hold

The Curious Spazzing Out of Electricity

Okay, so you have absolutely no idea how much I’m freaking out now. I’m surrounded by darkness, with my laptop as the only wee source of light in the entire house. Yes, we had a major blackout.

It happened at 5 in the morning last night till now, and us being the only residence to experience such a faulty electrical trip. So imagine my disappointment when I arrived home from school, fantasizing a cool bath and an iced shake while reading. Oh, I got my ‘cool’ bath alright, together with no food and no light source for reading.

I had a few hours of suffering in the back kitchen while I was doing my revision, but the light only stayed till 8 pm, then I had to join Dad at the front porch chasing Golden while blasting out tunes of A Thousand Miles from my handphone. Finally the electrician came, and the emergency light was dominated by him, so I couldn’t do anything except to turn on my computer and write this. (I’m writing this in Word by the way, then only do I copy and paste into WordPress.)

Anyway, back to now. I am currently nutritious food for mosquitoes right now, which clearly isn’t appeasing considering my current situation. I’d rather be a donor for vampires than stupid mosquitoes anyday.

OH WAIT! THE ELECTRICITY IS ON AGAIN! Thank you, electric man! Thank you, wires! Thank you-

Oh shiz. It’s gone again. Now Dad’s complaining about the stupid trip again.

OH WAIT!! IT’S BACK AGAIN!! FOR REAL!!

I will never forget God’s word, “Let there be light.” It reminds me of how much I take electricity for granted.

Exit light, Enter night… NOT.

Swine swine, go away…

I arrived at school today, still sleepy, and hid myself in my arms before dozing off on my desk. All I thought was, just another boring day. Typical, huh? Plus, there was assembly, not to mention that I’m on duty at 3M. You see where I’m heading.

So the day went on…well, terribly. I was ordered out 5 minutes early, and it turns out there’s no assembly. Huffing, I returned to 3M and sticked to Angel. (new codename for Crystal. I mean, Hoi Chin.) We went back to class, with me in a horrible mood, and a runny nose, furious that my morning was spoiled.

And then someone shook my day. Just a little.

There were lots of empty seats today: Wahed (operation), Yu Han (sick), Shi Qian (sick), , Azira (sick),  Diana (sick), and Jiha (terribly sick=suspected H1N1) So you see, 5 out of 6 absentees were sick. With fever. And that’s not all, Nadhirah, Yun Shuan, Chew Jie, Jia Yee, Amalina, Farah and Mas were some who were present but sick. And I mean, really sick. Nadhirah had all the flu symptoms. And she’s only two seats from me. So when the PK1 announced that everyone who was sick -regardless what type of illness you contracted- were to go to the hall for quarantine. Doesn’t the word give you the creeps? Take 34 minus 13 plus 1 (Etiqah –>band) and 1 (Moksha –>drama) and you get approximately half the class left. I had half a mind to join the Suspects, but -well, I’m so obedient. *faints* Anyway, so rumours started to fly around the school: Were there any real swine flu cases? What happened in the hall?  Did everyone get a check-up? Poor Chew Jie. She sneaked back to class to nip a bite but got bombarded with questions instead. Later, Jannah from 2K told us there were 85 suspects and a confirmed case: a Form 1 student was sent to the hospital. Angel and I exchanged glances. This means: SCHOOL’S OUT!!!

But no. Unfortunately. It was a fake, Jiao Lin told us. I frowned. School’s still on? Oh noez. Well, at least I still have a topic to talk about in the car. I can only cross my fingers that 1) the principal will spread the flu when she returns from London, 2) the band members do when they come back from Pasir Gudang.

Don’t kill me please.

Anyway, Natalie -yes, live news feed from Australia- said that they don’t really take the disease seriously anymore, despite 25 deaths. Which reminds me, Chrissy -my other friends from Aussie- has got it herself.

Chrisseh/Linden/Brynniepoo: If you’re reading this, I hope you get well soon. *huggles*

And she wished she had bird flu instead. Makah has gotten to your head, stepsisseh.

P/S. Finished ‘Can You Keep A Secret?’ by Sophie Kinsella today. Can’t help thinking that the characters are Emma Foster and Rex Harper. AND they’re actually Zanessa. *fazed*

The series revolve around a world where everyone turns pretty at the age of sixteen. The world I’m talking about is hundreds of centuries after our time, when people no longer use petroleum, and using fire is considered absurd. However, [spoiler: highlight to view] lesions are injected into Pretties’ mind when undergoing the operation to turn them pretty. The lesions are some kind of bugs to make you feel all Paris Hilton and makes you enjoy the pretty life, thus arguments don’t exist between Pretties. Tally Youngblood, an Ugly, couldn’t wait to turn sixteen, but soon finds out about the secret about being a Pretty, and tries to stop the operations from continuing. [spoiler] But turns into a Special, a government who protects the Pretty world from outside danger. In other words: insert the lesions themselves and stops people who finds out about it.

Definitely worth a read.

Lights. Camera. ACTION!

And step into BORDERS: The Ultimate Heaven.

Take One

I stepped into the Curve, feeling the cold conditioner air making my skin all tingly. What with the sweltering hot weather PJ sported, the sudden change in temperature still made me shiver, just a little. “Hey, that’s Ikea,” Mum said excitedly. I frowned at her. Not Ikea, please. Let’s focus on the current subject shall we? Borders. That’s the one.

After two levels of rides on the flat escalator, chagrin started to overwhelm me. Where’s the bookstore? Is it missing r something? I stared ahead solemnly, a frown plastered on my face, hoping that I could just press the fast forward button on the type of controller Adam Sandler had on Click. Ah Ping Ko Ko, my cousin -who was conveniently out KL tour guide, too- said it wasn’t quite far, so I had to shut up and resist.

Patience.

Patience.

Patience.

“Are we there yet?” I finally blurted out, realising that I sounded like Ice Cube in the movie. I swear if we’re not at Borders yet, I was going to start throwing things.

Dad pointed. “There it is.”

Take Two

Holy. Crap.

I gaped at the shop.

Holy. -coughlet’sforgetthenextwordcough-

I stepped into the shop a little dramatically and couldn’t help goggling my eyes at, well, everything. It was bigger than my school’s library. Hell, it was bigger than the Alor Star library.

Michelle Teoh Zi Yan, be prepared for the ultimate savage of a lifetime.

Take Three

I swear. I. Am. Suffocating. Here. -Happily.-

I even told Dad that if I ever fainted, don’t take me home, please. I don’t ever want to leave this glorious place.

Starting off, I made a list of books that I want:

  1. Untamed. (Duh.)
  2. Hunted. (D-UH.)
  3. The Host.
  4. The Sookie Stackhouse series.

           – I already have Dead Until Dark.
           – Living Dead In Dallas.
           – Club Dead.
          – Dead To The World.
           – Dead As A Doornail.
           – Definitely Dead.
           – All Together Dead.
          – From Dead To Worse.
          – Dead and Gone.
          – A Touch of Dead.

Etcetera, though Untamed is my main search.

I started at the romance section. House of Night, romance? Probably not. But I checked it anyways.

Nope.

Then I proceeded to fiction. Sure, there were loads of books I liked, but seriously, you don’t expect me to buy them all?

Zilch.

HA! The Sookies are at the mystery section! The Kristins gotta be there.

Nada.

Still no sign. What was weirder, The Twilight saga wasn’t there, either. But the sight of  BUY 2 FREE 1 at the Sookies section practically cheered me up. So I dived into it, picking out the books 3 in a pile and dropped it in my basket.

Mum said she saw The Host downstairs at MPH with 20% off, so I resisted.

But, still, no Untamed was no fun.

Take Four

“Dad.”

“Mm?”

“I couldn’t find my book. The book that I want. The book that I really want.”

“So?”

I scowled. So my world is tumbling down.

One thing I forgot to mention, Borders is a two-storey shop -isn’t that uhmayzing?- but it was labelled as “Children’s Corner” right at the escalator, so I didn’t bother.

I groaned and sighed and moaned until Dad gave up.

“Why don’t you check upstairs?”

“It says, children.”

“It’s worth a peek.”

So I complied.

And wanted to kiss Dad when I found the entire HoN series upstairs.

And the Twilight saga.

I couldn’t find Hunted, though, so I grabbed Untamed, an elated smile on my face and pelted downstairs, almost tripping at the escalator.

“WAIT!!” I yelled when Mum and Dad were at the cashiers, paying the huge stack of books that were my Sookies. I thrusted Untamed into the already overspilt pile and grinned wildly when Mum pulled out her RM300 vouchers redeemed with her Direct Access points. Of course we paid with vouchers. We couldn’t affordRM 400++ with cash.

Goodies:

  1. Untamed.
  2. Hunted.
  3. The Host.

Take Five

I effing love Borders. I effing love books.

I bid Borders ggodbye a little solemnly and got my Host and Mum got her Da Vinci Code at MPH downstairs, before heading home.

You cannot imagine how elated I was that day.

Take Six

I reached San Ku’s house and everyone gaped at the huge bulging plastic bag(s) full of books. But the one sentence that got me worked up with excitement:

“Borders isn’t even 30% of Kinokuniya in KLCC. Really.”

                                                                                  –San Ku

MWHAHA.

Kinokuniya, here I come.

Tempted: Coming soon: 27 October 2009

Extremely typical of me to fall in love with books like this. Vampiric books.

Marked

The House of Night is a school where vampire fledglings go to learn about Vampyre 101. They have to go through -six?- grades to transform into a full vampyre, otherwise, you die.

Zoey Redbird is just like any other typical 16-year-old. Until she was Marked. She attends the House of Night, where she neets Stevie Rae Johnson, her BFF, and her other friends, Damien Maslin, a gay, Erin Bates and Shaunee Cole, both extreme BFFs and call themselves the Twins even though Erin is white and Shaunee is black.

Everything is fine until she meets Aphrodite Lafont, the snobbish leader of the Dark Daughters. Zoey vows to bring her down someday, and the both of them are clones of Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy.

Then she meets Erik Night, the hottest fledgling in House of Night, and both of them starts going out. But she soon found herself tied to Heath Luck, her human almost-ex boyfriend, when they sorta Imprinted (that’s soooooo Twilight) when Zoey drank licked his blood.

Then on Samhain, or Halloween, as the humans call it, Aphrodite led the Dark Daughters, including Zoey, because she has a penchant for drinking blood, and a catastrophe occurred when Aphrodite accidentally summoned evil spirits in her ritual. Zoey saved everyone, especially Heath -who was drunk and stumbled upon the group who was almost killed had not Erik saved him- with her newfound powers: an affinity for the five elements, wind, fire, water, earth and spirit, with the help of Stevie Rae, Damien and the Twins.

In the end, Neferet, Zoey’s mentor and professor, declared Zoey as the new leader of the Dark Daughters, and Aphrodite left with a sour face.

Betrayed

The betrayal can be pointed to Zoey’s betrayal towards Erik, and Neferet’s betrayal towards Zoey.

Things were fine for Zoey, until two humans, both friends of hers, died, completely drained of blood, all evidence pointing to the vampyres at House of Night. As the new leader of the Dark Daughters, Zoey tries to find the murderer, but had no idea where to start.

Zoey is stuck between three guys: Erik Night, her almost-boyfriend, Heath Luck, her human almost-ex boyfriend, and Loren Blake, who teaches poetry at the House of Night. Things doesn’t get better when Zoey and Heath’s imprint deepens.

Then Stevie Rae dies and Zoey is heartbroken. But she had a vision of Stevie Rae and a whole group of fledglings who were supposed to be dead like Elliott and Elizabeth, capture Heath. Using her Imprinted connection with Heath, she found out that Heath was indeed captured and locked in a chamber underground.

Zoey saves Heath, and realised that Stevie Rae had turned into a pale creature with fangs who sucks blood. Stevie Rae told Zoey that it was Neferet who had caused this. Stevie Rae was neither a fledgling nor a vampyre, but Zoey still sensed the real Stevie Rae in the monster and vows to save her before getting Heath out of there.

As soon as they got outside, they bumped into Neferet, and she erased both of their memories in the underground chamber. However, with the help of her powers, Zoey restores her memory and discovers the true person behinf the kind and gentle Neferet.

Chosen

Zoey and Aphrodite saves Stevie Rae and hides her in Aphrodite’s house. Much as she hated it, Zoey couldn’t tell her friends about Stevie Rae because the extremely intuitive Neferet would know, and since Aphrodite and her were the only people that Neferet can’t read, Zoey could only share the secret with Aphrodite. One day, both of them found Professor Nolan’s corpse and Neferet had to tighten the security, making it harder for the both of them to get to Stevie Rae.

Meanwhile, Zoey feels herself getting more and more distant with her friends, and before she knew it, her relationship with Erik was almost at its peak, had not Zoey saved it quickly. However, Zoey and Loren got into a sticky end (that is, doing the thing) and Erik finds out about it, and dumps Zoey.

Zoey was heartbroken and rushes off to find Loren, but realise it was all an act. Neferet was behind it all, and ordered Loren to steal Zoey’s heart, so that Erik leaves her; and break Zoey’s Imprint with Heath.

Zoey runs off and hides under a tree, where Damien and the Twins found her. They tried to console her but was interrupted when Erik arrived and blurted out about Loren and Zoey. Then, all of a sudden, Stevie Rae enters House of Night, and without wasting time, Zoey, Damien, the Twins and Aphrodite performed a ritual to restore the old Stevie Rae. As a result, Aphrodite had to make a sacrifice, and turned into a human again.

Damein and the Twins realised Zoey had been keeping secrets from them and turned away from her, just as Neferet had wanted. Feeling defeated, Zoey still vowed to bring Neferet down, and knows that Nyx, the Goddess of House of Night will be watching over her.

-END-

*pants* I’m trying to get my hands on Untamed at Borders afterwards (yipee!) but Hunted won’t be so easy to get. I checked and it’s RM 60++ So.

I’ll probably post about the characters afterwards, so keep your fingers crossed.

XOXO The New Fledgling

I’m Scared

Because I am on duty for 5D tomorrow.

Yes, I am re-elected for prefect again. Joy or sorrow, I dunno. But I promise I’ll never resign again. Crystal will probably kill me anyway.

So yeah, I am dreading tomorrow, where I am on duty for 5D, and it’s assembly day. Everytime Nini or Nadia or Azira asks me which class I’m in charge of, and I reply, “5D”, their faces immediately change into horrified expressions. Not that I need anymore of that.

I try to keep this thoughts at bay. Think positive, think positive. 5D. Shutup. Think positive, positive… 5D. STFU!! I am so stuck in a dilemma right now. I so wished I hadn’t resigned last year.

To any seniors who happen to stumble upon my blog, you did not see anything.

To Soya, Crystal, Dolphin and my friends, thanks for the encouragement, but that still hasn’t succeeded in eliminating my fears, I’m afraid.

To myself, stay strong.

GULP.

Trembling To My Toes

…would be the expression I would describe about my feelings when I stepped into Holiday Villa for my violin exam. Yes, I am that nervous.

The truth is, I’m not completely sure about my pieces, my minor scales suck, and I fail in my sight singing. So you can tell I am not prepared for this yet.

I took the elevator to Floor 13, and noticed a Malay woman and man sitting in front of a registration table, and Miss Ashley was there too. I registered and entered the waiting room nervously. In the room, I was all nerves. Miss Ashley was talking to dad, and I tried to focus on their conversation to forget about my nerves. For. Get. It was no use. My nerves took over, so I tried to concentrate on the outside scenery instead.

“Michelle Teoh.” God, half an hour already? I picked up my violin and book and headed for the exam room. A grey-haired man, Malcolm Goldring (I saw his bio cellophane taped onto the waiting room wall). Mr Lee was there fpr accompaniment too. “Okay, I’m ready when you are,” the man said kindly. Oh God. Oh no. I placed my violin on my shoulder and played the first song, “English Dance”, followed by “Allegro” and “Clockwork Doll”. IMO, it was terrible. I could even hear the waviness in the songs.

Then when Mr Lee left, it was scales time. I thought I did pretty good in my scales, arppegios, chromatic scales and dominant sevenths. Then, aural time. Okay, I admit, I SUCKED. Seriously, my sight-seeing was….unspeakable. He gave me a paper asking me to sing to the notes and, “I will correct you if you make any mistakes.” But he didn’t, at all, because I got it all wrong.

And then, sight reading. I fail. I missed all the flats, can you believe it? But anyways, after a “Have a nice day” from the examiner, I left the room in a rush, relief washing over me.

I was extremely talkative when I returned to the waiting room. Dad was there waiting for me, and I felt like hugging him. And we went home. (I was too lazy to go to school. :p)

I am crossing my fingers now. Please let me pass, that’s all I ask for. Just a pass, forget merit or distinction. Just a pass.

Choral Speaking in Youtube

So Kelly told me about this video stuffed somewhere in Youtube, so i dug it out and posted it here.

BTW, I’m the only Chinese, faaaar right. 🙂

Yes, I joined the District Level Choral Speaking competition on… the 23rd of April, I think. So, blame me for not posting that (I actually have a ‘Choral Speaking 2009’ draft saved in here, which I was too lazy to continue) but I’m going to summarise my choral speaking experience right now.

Ena passed me a paper one afternoon during recess, asking if I wanted to join the choral speaking competition, and I was like, “What’s that?” But I wrote my name in anyway, and since Crystal, Soya and Dolphin weren’t there, I pulled Chew Jie together too.

After school, all the participants were ordered to gather at the school hall for an audition. GULP. So we formed a line, and Pn. Kok Kam Leng instructed everyone to read out a verse of the choral speaking text. She said she was judging by pronounciation and volume. I wasn’t unduly worried about the former, but the latter terrorized me. I was never one to speak out loud. But when it was my turn, Aifa and Anum said I did pretty well, and I was consoled. Chew Jie didn’t make it though, although she was one of the reserves.

The practices were held EVERYDAY, and , I must admit, it was pretty torturing. Pn. Kok Kam Leng had to be MIA for a while, so it was only us and Pn. Zarina. I think I’ll just skip the practice session. It’s pretty tedious, I have to admit.

The 23rd of April fell on a Thursday, and was held in SMJK Keat Hwa. As far as I know, Joey was participating too. So when we got there (we were an influx of white, because we’re all wearing baju kurung[s]) . I saw Joey, Mi Xia, Khey Ken, June Lynn, and probably some people that my non-adhesive memory couldn’t remember, at the Keat Hwa seats. And I also saaw Ai Chen, Jia Wen, Wei Ann, Leong Vern at the Convent seats. We were third, so Nadia and I were practically clinging on to each other, nerves hacking into our body systems. And then it was our turn. I tried really hard to stifle the neverending oncoming coughs, because I was unlucky enough to catch a cough virus a few days before the competition. But fortunately, I didn’t emit a single cough during the competition.

When we were done, we sat down, nerves relaxing, crossing our legs to enjoy the show.

*Just enjoy the show* <— Yes, that’s Lenka. 🙂

The SMK Convent group.

The Keat Hwa group.

I can’t find anymore schools on Youtube. Sorry, guys.

So anyway, it was time for the results. And…

“The second runner-up goes to….”

🙂

“SMJK KEAT HWA!”

“The first runner-up goes to…”

:p

“SMK SULTANAH ASMA!”

[Guess I could add a ‘whoop!’ here.]

“And the champion of the Kota Star District Level Choral Speaking Competition 2009 is….”

😀

“SMK CONVENT!”

And there were shrieks everywhere. I have to admit, they were pretty awesome. So then, our team, and the Convent team went on the stage to claim our prizes. On the bus, everyone was elated, because it was the first time our school had bagged any award for any choral speaking competitions. (Never mind the didn’t-get-champion-thingy. We blew it away from our minds.)

And that’s pretty all I have to say, except from the fact I still feel dreamy-like whenever I reminisce this memory. 🙂
